Zenith University College (ZUC) has postponed its reopening date over Ebola virus till further notice. This is based on the directives given by the Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in order to prevent spread of Ebola virus into Ghana.
ZUC management saw it to be helpful and reasonable to
postpone the 2014/2015 academic year till further notice as part of measures to
prevent the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Zenith College and into Ghana as a
whole. The reason being that, this deadly disease (Ebola virus) has penetrated
into some west African countries such as Nigeria, sierra Leone and Liberia.
Thus, with most of the international students in Zenith University College being Nigerians, ZUC management have decided
to second the motion moved by the minister of education Prof. Jane Naana
Opoku-Agyemang to prevent the likelihood of the deadly virus affecting the
whole students body and the entire country’s population as a whole.
Speaking
with some of the students about the current news in Zenith University College,
they made a positive remark on it, saying that the school (ZUC) management made
a prudent and sagacious decision by going by the directives given by the
ministry of education for all tertiary institutions in Ghana to hold on with
their resumption/ re-opening till further notice so as to allow for the
necessary screening and preparedness measures to be instituted to ensure that
tertiary institutions in the country (Ghana) are adequately placed in readiness
for any outbreak of this deadly Ebola virus in the
country.
Having evaluated and recorded a total of 37 suspected
cases (Ebola victims) in the country (Ghana), Some of the public institutions
(Schools) in Ghana like the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST) and the Cape Coast University have suspending
the commencement of the 2014/2015 academic year till further notice too.
