The
depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi has been a historical economic problem over
decades now. Past governments have tried to provide solution to this economic
nightmare as the Cedi in each given fiscal year depreciate against the major
trading currencies. Sometimes we leave the whole work for the government or the
Bank of Ghana or only one party but the issue requires all and sundry to join
in to help curb the situation.
You and I have
a part to play. The common Ghanaian is included because we are in a global
world and everything is everybody’s business now. The must be more patronage of
locally manufactured goods. That means that manufacturers are to be very
original and innovative to help their products compete with that of the foreign
environment. Manufacturers are to ensure that they use as much as possible less
foreign materials in producing their goods.
The government
has a part to pay through implementing policies to ensure that enough local
currency is in the system to avoid the use of foreign currency. Sellers must be
willing to accept local currency in trading. Everyone is important in this
crusade of improving the value of the local currency and we must ensure that we
make it happen. God bless Ghana.
