The graphic business in partnership
with Stanbic bank held a business breakfast summit for business stakeholders at
the Labadi Beach Hotel to deliberate on the Economic Partnership Agreement
(EPA) and its implications on business community.
The
summit which took place at the Omanye Hall of Labadi Beach Hotel was filled
with giants and eagles in the business sector. Some guests who graced the
occasion were Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Trade and Industry, Nana Osei
Bonsu (CEO of Private Enterprise Federation and Dr. Yaw Graham, Executive
Director of Third World Network with Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso chairing the
occasion.
Speaking
with BLG news, Mr. Anthony Nyame Baafi, Director of Regional Relations,
Ministry Trade and Industry, noted some of the challenges affecting the business
and labour environment. According to Mr. Baafi, some employers exploit workers
and as such the ministry have put in place drastic measure to ensure that such
situations are prevented.
He
maintained that some of the measures put in place by the government includes
the minimum wage, which is the average payment expected of an employer to an
employee. He further explained that, there should be good working conditions
and a sufficient retirement compendium to appreciate sweats of workers. Mr. Nana Osei Bonsu,
CEO of Private Enterprise Federation maintained posited that there is high
shortage of technical skills which is one of the enormous challenges facing the
local enterprises in Ghana. He revealed that the Private Enterprise Federation
